Did you ever hear about an explore named Juan Ponce De Leon? He traveled to many places like Florida Hatti and the Dominican Republic. He discovered Florida.This Spaniard earned nickname the poor knight because he served as a squired Leon even lived during the same time as Christopher Coulmbus.This young explore traveled thousand of miles all over the globe.
Juan Ponce de Leon was born about in the 1460 but know one really knows. Both of Ponce De Leon’s’ parents died at a young and many people say he lived with a great aunt. When Juan became a teenager he joined the Spanish army and was a solider. Juan’s early training was serving as a squire. One of Ponce De Leon’s experience was being a orphan and living with an aunt.
Juan explored many places and discovered one. Juan went to Florida and was the first person to put its’ foot on Florida .He discovered Florida on Palm Sunday April 2nd, 1513.Juan was looking for the Fountain of Youth. Don Pedro who was Juan’s old mentor used his special influence on court so he would start exploring by start exploring by Christopher Columbus second voyage to the new world. Juan Ponce De Leon explored many places.
Ponce De Leon has many interesting facts. Once Ponce De Leon discovered Florida and named it Pascua de Florida .He thought Florida was an island because he wanted to go to Bimini but got confessed where he was. Ponce de Leon never found the Fountain of Youth. In 1493 he accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. Ponce De Leon never found riches but still liked exploring.
Ponce De Leon died in July 1521,Havana, Cuba .He was buried in San Juan, Puerto Rico .He was interested in finding the fountain of youth because he heard it had special powers to keep you young. He learned how to do many things like speak an Indian language. He learned how to plant and was a very talented man. Juan Ponce de Leon was a smart and a great man.
